If you aren't familiar with fresh fennel, it's time to give it a try. You'll find it in the fresh produce department. It has a large, white bulb on the bottom with long celery-like green stalks that have feathery leaves. The bulb is the edible part of the vegetable and has a licorice or anise taste. One of the wonderful things about fennel is that blends well with so many foods and the flavor varies with the food pairing.
